Step across a glass bridge spanning the world-famous Mapparium, a three-story stained-glass globe that gives visitors a dazzling view from the center of the earth. Opened in 1935, the Mapparium was then and remains today the only architectural structure of its kind. It is a must-see attraction for all Boston visitors. Watch hundreds of quotes by history’s great thinkers bubble up from a fountain and illuminate the walls of the magnificent Hall of Ideas. The Library’s other exhibits and galleries highlight the remarkable life, ideas, and achievements of Mary Baker Eddy, a 19th-century Bostonian who overcame tremendous adversity to become a successful and influential religious leader, author, publisher, and businesswoman.
